UNIVERSITY TARGU MURES MEDICAL CAMPUS HAMBURG

The University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures (UMFST) is a national university located in the Romanian city of Targu Mures, region of Transylvania. The university was founded in 1945 as a branch of the Babes-Bolyai-University in Cluj-Napoca and has been operated independently since 1991. More than 11,000 students are learning at the UMFST of Targu Mures, which makes it the largest university of medicine in Romania. The medical field comprises the Faculty of Human Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Faculty of Pharmacy.

The opening of UMCH means the opening of the first branch of the UMFST of Targu Mures in Germany, where students can study human medicine in English language. The university maintains a worldwide network of 49 partner universities. Students can spend one or more semesters in Italy, France, Austria or Turkey to gain valuable experience abroad. The study program at UMCH is divided into six academic years. Students, after the completion of their medical studies could work as doctors in Germany or on the international job market.

The campus in Hamburg offers students the most modern facilities, such as multimedia lecture halls, learning and IT areas with excellently equipped workstations. In laboratories students are taught the required medical skills and have the opportunity to conduct research-based experiments.

UMCH is located in the Bahrenfeld district of Hamburg, also known as the city of science. Bahrenfeld is one of the most attractive educational sites in Germany and is half an hour from the centre of Hamburg. It belongs to the Altona region, one of the greenest areas of Hamburg that offers a very high quality of life. Hamburg is characterized by an impressive history, reflected in particular by its multi-faceted architecture. Moreover, the numerous canals and the bridges give the city its unique flair and make it a highly attractive place not only to live in, but also to study. Due to both private and state universities, Hamburg has a diverse mix of students and nightlife.
