The University of Lancashire (formerly the University of Central Lancashire, UCLan) is a large public university based in Preston, Lancashire, UK. It traces its origins back to 1828, when it was founded as the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge. In 2024, it officially adopted the name University of Lancashire. Its motto, “From the Earth to the Sun” (Ex solo ad solem), reflects its vision of growth and discovery.

Today, the University of Lancashire has a vibrant community of around 38,000 students and staff, spread across its main Preston campus and additional sites in Burnley, Westlakes, and even Cyprus.
